26ª mostra de cinema ao ar-livre
MÚSICA, AMOR E DESEJO DE TRANSFORMAÇÃO dão o tom desta edição. A partir de “One to One: John & Yoko", que revisita um momento em que a arte era intervenção pública e apelo à paz, inicia-se um percurso onde o cinema se afirma como espaço de escuta.
Ao longo dos dias, surgem personagens em transformação: poetas sem rumo, famílias em viagem, professores sob vigilância, mulheres em processos de mudança, corpos que procuram linguagem e pertença. De Medellín ao Recife, da Macedónia do Norte ao Brasil distópico, da Argélia colonial ao Canadá reinventado — mas também através de geografias e futuros imaginados — os filmes desenham um mundo atravessado por tensões históricas, questões de poder e heranças coloniais. Ao mesmo tempo, o humor, a ironia e o absurdo, presentes em muitos dos filmes desta edição, abrem espaço para pensar o presente sem o cristalizar.
As animações luminosas e inspiradoras da programação — uma regressando ao passado e outra projetando futuros possíveis — introduzem uma dimensão de imaginação e encantamento, deixando espaço para a ternura, a descoberta e a possibilidade de mudança.
No cruzamento entre documentário e ficção, arquivo e criação, e com a música a atravessar muitas destas histórias, o cinema tem a capacidade de nos transportar para outros lugares, mas também de nos fazer olhar de novo para o mundo que habitamos.
MUSIC, LOVE, AND A DESIRE FOR CHANGE set the tone for this edition. Beginning with “One to One: John & Yoko”, which revisits a moment when art became inseparable from public engagement and a call for peace, the programme unfolds as a journey where cinema asserts itself as a space for listening.
Along the way, we encounter characters in transformation: poets adrift, families on the move, teachers under surveillance, women navigating change, and bodies searching for language and belonging. From Medellín to Recife, from North Macedonia to a dystopian Brazil, from colonial Algeria to a reimagined Canada — and through imagined geographies and speculative futures — these films portray a world shaped by historical tensions, power structures, and colonial legacies. At the same time, the humour, irony, and absurdity present in many of this year’s films open up ways of reflecting on the present without fixing it in place.
The programme’s luminous and inspiring animated features — one looking back to the past, the other projecting possible futures — introduce a sense of imagination and wonder, leaving room for tenderness, discovery, and the possibility of change.
At the intersection of documentary and fiction, archival material and creative work — with music weaving its way through many of these stories — cinema has the power to transport us to other places, but also to make us take a fresh look at the world we inhabit.
